Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys will team up again in 2024.

He's back. There's no need to check your calendar because it is 2024, and indeed, Ezekiel Elliott is prepared to suit up for the Dallas Cowboys,

with the two parties agreeing on a deal for the 2024 season that will assist stabilise the team's running back depth chart.

"We are very interested in seeing what the future holds for Zeke," remarked owner and general manager Jerry Jones following Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

It's a depth chart riddled with questions since Tony Pollard's departure in free agency, as well as the amount of unproven,

inexperienced young talent behind Rico Dowdle, who re-signed this summer on a one-year contract.

The arrangement came together in the last few days, but communication has been ongoing for several weeks (if not longer),

with Elliott always having the option to walk back through it as early as this season.

A steak dinner last week helped clinch the deal, as did the Cowboys' decision to withdraw from this year's draft without picking a running back

— a decision that was also, though not fully, motivated by their conviction in Elliott's impending return.
