Fit for Everyone founder Richard Simmons dies at 76.

Richard Simmons is easily recognized by his short, flashy T-shirt and curly hair.

One of the most creative, charismatic and popular bodybuilders of the last 50 years.

Simmons died Saturday at his Los Angeles home, a spokesman told NPR. He was 76.

A LAPD official informed NPR that officers investigated a Hollywood Hills death. NPR used public records to find Simmons' house.

Police said foul play was not suspected but did not disclose the cause of death.

Simmons started a fitness empire in the 1970s with tapes, classes, books, goods, infomercials, his own program, and many TV appearances.

Technology was new in the 1980s, which assisted his entrepreneurship.

Simmons released exercise classes on VHS for VCRs. He developed over 65 exercise videos, including "Sweatin' to the Oldies," which sold over 20 million copies.
